Living in the city, I can become out of touch with things out of the city- like rolling hills and tall trees and traffic that moves for miles. And when the pressures of urban life start to weigh heavy on me, these are the things I dream of. Last weekend, in our attempt to escape before the busyness of summer began, we drove west to Galena- a charming historical community about 3 hours from Chicago. Hills and trees there were. Even the down to earth, friendly nature of people was disarming. But the best part- uninterrupted, intentional time with my hubby.
First, a leisurely stroll through town.
Next, a wine tour & tasting at
Galena Cellars Vineyard & Winery
And to end the day, dinner at a local French/German bistro,
Fritz & Frites
Thankful for this guy and weekends spent together, both near and far.
